As a lifelong resident of Abingdon, Virginia, Brian Ely received his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from James Madison University. In 1994, he earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Mississippi College School of Law. After partnering with several local law firms, he formed Ely Law Group in 2007.
He has been licensed to practice law by Supreme Court of Virginia and all inferior Virginia courts since October 6, 1994. He is also licensed to practice by the United States Court of Appeals, Fourth Circuit and the United States Federal District Court, Western District of Virginia.
Since 1999 , Brian has been a member of the federal Criminal Justice Act Panels for the Abingdon and Big Stone Gap division of the United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia and has represented well over 100 clients in federal criminal cases.
Brian currently serves as Vice-Chairman of the Johnston Memorial Hospital Foundation Board and is a member of its planned giving committee. Brian lives in Abingdon with his wife Stacey and their daughter, Grayson Marie.
